Plan “B”

Plan “B”

06 September 2021

There is nothing superfluous in concern for the safety of passengers! All investors of RSW Systems are well aware of the superior performance of string transport, not only in terms of speed, economy and environmental friendliness, but also – and rather, even in the first place – in its safety.

As you know, in case of emergency situations in string transport, a towing system is provided that allows the rolling stock to be coupled and transport pods with passengers to the nearest stations, from where evacuation takes place in the usual, standard way.

When it comes to unforeseen incidents – for example, a fire, etc. – then there is a plan "B" for this case: an emergency descent system for passengers. We regularly inform you of the various types of tests conducted by UST, Inc. in Sharjah, and among them also a recent test of the operation of string transport in similar situations. For this purpose, for a quick evacuation, the rolling stock of the string transport is equipped with an emergency descent system: a special device is installed on the ceiling of the vehicle through which a strong rope is passed, which is attached to a special belt worn by the passenger. The system allows to quickly leave the passenger compartment, besides, it is very convenient, therefore, holding on to the rope, any person can easily go down to the ground.

The video report presented to your attention demonstrates how the evacuation from the unicar takes place using this descent device. The footage has been filmed at the UST, Inc. Testing and Certification Centre in Sharjah, UAE, where various tests are carried out to study all possible emergency situations, the results of which are considered in the creation of the technology.

According to Syed Arsalan, the company's Mechanical Engineer, this is one of many tests that are carried out to ensure maximum passenger safety. Tests like these help him look at different abnormal situations from a different angle.
