There Is Motion in the Rolling Stock!

29 January 2019

The development of new types of rolling stock and SkyWay transport complexes continues. Our today’s story is about uniwind - a suspended automated passenger vehicle of SkyWay string-rail transport system, or U4-651.

The aim of the development was to create a lightweight modular suspended monorail passenger vehicle designed for simultaneous transportation of two people and/or cargo within the permissible load capacity and module volume along urban and suburban routes on a monorail string-rail flexible track with a continuous circular or shuttle motion. The new development will be most in demand in sparsely populated remote areas with severe climatic conditions without developed infrastructure, and can also be used as a basic vehicle to create a line of monorail vehicles with replaceable modules to provide cargo and passenger traffic.

Competitive benefits of uniwind are:

- high reliability achieved by complete duplication of traffic support systems, including traction drive and power supply systems;

- versatility and a wide range of use, achieved by the possibility of using replaceable modules for various purposes: from budgetary ones for regional highly specialized use to individual personal use for business transportation;

- high consumer qualities achieved, for example, by availability of a wide range of optional versions - from the choice of entertainment systems to the choice of the glazing type;
- high operational performance, achieved, in particular, through the use of adjustable independent suspension, increased storage capacity of the drive, as well as low operating cost;

- low requirements to infrastructure of the region for operation;

- simplicity and low cost of the track structure.

Viktor Garakh, Head of the Layout Design Bureau at SkyWay Technologies Co., who was the leading layout designer of the new vehicle, will tell you about all this, about the progress of this development and the upcoming certification in more detail in the video interview offered to you.
