EcoFest 2020. To be, or not to be?

EcoFest 2020. To be, or not to be?

03 July 2020 7355

EcoFest is a full-scale event that annually brings together thousands of investors from dozens of countries at SkyWay EcoTechnoPark in the Republic of Belarus. So, last year EcoFest 2019 was attended by more than five thousand viewers, among whom were guests from Australia, Canada, the USA and most countries of Western Europe, while the number of viewers of online broadcasts exceeded 50 thousand.

At the very beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, it seemed that the world would have to “lurk” in self-isolation for a period of not more than two, maximum three months, and then life would return to its normal course. By and large, no one took seriously the warnings of epidemiologists that wearing masks and other precautions would have to remain until the time the vaccine was created, which would appear – and even then, at best – not earlier than a year and a half later. And now, of course, many do not believe. Having escaped from quarantine, people rushed headlong into the whirlpool of lifting restrictions imposed due to a drop in the daily number of cases, or even against the background of rather high – and sometimes even growing – indicators for this part. Almost always, there was political (read “economic”) motivation, since no one, even the richest state or company, can afford to be quarantined for more than this period.

However, the “second wave” of the pandemic, unfortunately, cannot be canceled. They were waiting for it in the fall, but, apparently, it would come earlier, posing even more complex questions than during the first wave, the consequences of which – economic, social, even psychological – were so serious that few people would like a repetition of what has happened. In some countries, quarantine measures are already being returned, and in the current situation it is not possible for us to risk the health of numerous investors from around the world. The danger of re-infection with COVID-19 has repeatedly been expressed by WHO representatives. In particular, at a briefing in Geneva, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated literally the following: “Some countries are now experiencing a resurgence of cases as they start to re-open their economies and societies. Most people remain susceptible. The virus still has a lot of room to move.” In view of the foregoing, it is possible, unfortunately, to answer the existential question about the main event of the year for the SkyWay investor only in this way: there will be no EcoFest in 2020.

See you at SkyWay EcoTechnoPark in 2021!

In the meantime, let's recall how it was in 2019:
