Advances in the Track Structure Development

Advances in the Track Structure Development

06 January 2022

Dear partners, we continue the cycle of interviews with key employees of the string technology developer. Today your interlocutor is Yuri Kashchuk, head of the “Transport Overpass” department, who speaks about the results of the work of his division over the past year and shares plans for the current one.

Yuri Alekseevich is responsible for the design of a string-rail overpass and infrastructure facilities – turnout switches, transborders, – as well as the equipment ensuring the operation of the transport complex as a whole: car washes, repair equipment, chargers, equipment of depots and maintenance areas, etc. His team performs the full development cycle from technical proposal to operational documentation.

The most significant results of the department’s work in 2021:

- Several types of track structure developed, to be implemented at EcoTechnoPark (RB) and uSky Centre (UAE).

- Work has begun on the manufacture of a semi-rigid track structure and supports in the UAE, which are provided with special construction and installation equipment manufactured according to the project of the department. The continuous track structure with a length of more than 2 km and a total weight of almost 1,000 tons will be lifted to a height of more than 10 m! For the first time in the world, the installation of a prestressed structure will be organized at the intersection of an existing highway.

- Manufacturing of the track structure elements for the commercial project "Unilite" is nearing completion in Belarus.

- Based on the results of the semi-rigid line operation at EcoTechnoPark, its modernization was carried out. The specialists of the department refined the calculation methods for designing the units of connecting the track to supporting structures. Based on this, as well as tests of the rolling stock, new parts were developed, for example, a cable-stayed girder, or "saddle", which improves the smoothness of travel through the intermediate supports.

More information about the tests carried out can be found in the report "UST 2021: the head of the transport overpass department shared the company's achievements" on the developer's website.
