String Route Projects for Sharjah

String Route Projects for Sharjah

14 March 2023

Dear colleagues, the project shares with us several options of string transport and infrastructure technology practical application in Sharjah for the city’s best economic and social development.

The first one is a double-track ring line on the "Aljada – Airport – Sharjah Masjid – University" route with a total length of 38 km will have 11 stations and be served by 122 vehicles, with 16-passenger capacity each. At an average speed of 88 kph, the rolling stock will need 30 minutes to cover the entire circular route with all stops. In rush hour, this complex will provide service for up to 10,000 passengers/hour in two directions.

The second option is 45 km of double track connecting Aljada and Sharjah Safari via Airport and Al Rahmaniya. In the future, by building an additional 9 km, it will be possible to ride to the seacoast in the Sharjah Beach area. This route will be served by 43 electric vehicles with an average speed of 122 kph, which will allow you to travel safely from one terminus to the other in just 20 minutes with every stop.

The third option is the longest and most complex, as it connects the two seacoasts of Sharjah through the mountains. It operates between Tilal City and Kalba, stopping at Al Dhaid, Sharjah Safari and Sifuni. The total route length is 106 km, to be served by 103 vehicles. With an average speed of 140 kph, this ride from one coast to the other can take as little as 45 minutes. Later, it can get 26 km extension to Sharjah Bus Station.

The fourth option is a double-track passenger-and-freight route that starts from Hamriyah Port and runs through Hamriyah Free Zone, Emirates Industrial City to the Sharjah Inland Container Facility. The 45 km route will be served by 89 passenger vehicles and the necessary number of cargo ones with payload of 5 tons (5 euro-pallets), thus capable of transporting 170 tons of cargo per day in two directions along this route.

The company’s professionals will continue to develop projects of possible routes, both for Sharjah and for the entire region, having greater contribution to its prosperity and development in mind.
