Where Else are People Familiar with our Project?

Where Else are People Familiar with our Project?

13 September 2021

Since there is no doubt that there is no place left on Earth where they would not have heard about string transport, it is not surprising that the latest news of our project is being actively discussed in the countries neighboring the UAE. In this case, we mean a publication in the Israeli media that told its readers in detail about events that are already well known to all of us, so we offer you only a brief summary of it.

The publication on the pages of globes.co.il tells about a new environmentally friendly way of transportation that can solve the problem of traffic jams.

Naturally, we are talking about a pilot project by UST, Inc. in the UAE, which could change the face of transport, offering to build a network of automatic, unmanned high-speed vehicles that will travel through the air on steel rails. Since June this year, such an experiment in real conditions has been carried out by the string transport developer, which has already built a 400-meter experimental line in Sharjah, on the border with the Emirate of Dubai.

After describing the cabin and technical data of the tropical unicar, the author proceeds to the transport and infrastructure complex itself, noting that if the project is implemented, it will be able to provide a transport solution for 10,000 passengers per hour at 150 km/h, although for safety reasons the speed of the experimental line and limited.

The company sees its mission in reducing traffic congestion, as well as replacing existing roads with its technology, which will free up the ground for footpaths, green gardens, and recreation areas.

The article also compares the cost of building one kilometer of metro and string transport, where the ratio is 15:1. This is achieved largely with the help of a lower material consumption of the string track structure, so the process of its construction is also more environmentally friendly. A similar system has also been created for the transportation of freight containers with a total mass of up to 48 tons at a speed of up to 90 km/h.

After the usual comparison of string transport with a cable car, journalists note that the developer of the technology is aware that the organization of traffic in the string transport system requires careful planning, already working in this direction. At the end of the year, UST, Inc. plans to build a 2.4 km line in Sharjah that will increase travel speeds and demonstrate how different types of transport – passenger and cargo – can be used on the same network at the same time.

The author notes the high praise given to our project by Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park – where the base of string technologies in the UAE is located – who expressed his conviction that such transport will significantly accelerate the emirate's development as a sustainable futuristic centre.

After the start of operation of the test line, the development company received preliminary permission to build a line near the coastal city of Khor Fakkan. In the neighboring emirate, Dubai, there is also great interest in string transport, but the project management does not confine itself to the UAE, believing that the most promising markets, besides the Middle East, are in Asian regions with a rapid population growth. Judging by the receipt of requests also from North America, there is no need to worry about the future of the technology, especially against the background of the information already well known to the investors of RSW Systems, given at the very end of the Israeli publication, about plans to complete the first commercial project in Sharjah using string technologies back in this year, which promises the start of its operation by 2024!
