Potential Targeted Project

Potential Targeted Project

29 October 2022

Dear colleagues, we have recently reported on the participation of the project in the international Sustainable Transportation Forum 2022, which took place in Indonesia, and the signing of a memorandum of understanding with “ITS Indonesia”. An article on the official string technology resources reveals what transport problems are most acute in this island nation and how the project can solve them.

Country of big traffic jams

The problem is so significant that it literally endangers people's lives: in 2016, 18 people died in a traffic jam. Thousands of drivers who were on their way from Jakarta to Tegal stood almost without movement for 20 to 35 hours. In addition, traffic jams in the capital annually cost the country $6.8 billion.

The project proposes a solution to the problem in the form of string transport and infrastructure complexes capable of transporting up to 50,000 passengers per hour. A string-rail overpass, located high above the ground, will redistribute traffic flows and unload roads. Such a route will minimize the risk of collision with other objects, since it will be located on another tier.

40% of harmful emissions come from transport

In order to reduce pollution, the authorities have obliged state-owned companies to completely switch to electric transport by 2025. However, this innovation will only partially solve the problem, for reasons well known to RSW Systems investors.

String transport is more energy efficient due to several factors: the use of steel wheels running on steel rails and the aerodynamic design of the rolling stock, etc., due to which it consumes several times less energy.

Difficult environmental conditions

Indonesia is a large island nation with complex terrain, natural and climatic conditions. Often there are earthquakes of different strength and, accordingly, floods.

Under such conditions, the efficiency of string transport is especially noticeable. The track structure makes it possible to lay a route above the ground, and the special design of transport and infrastructure complexes is resistant to earthquakes. The length of the spans between the supports can reach two kilometres. Thanks to this, the route can be laid between neighbouring islands, as well as over water barriers, gorges and other obstacles.

Thus, the project solutions can not only unload the roads of Indonesia, but also make transport communication in this country more efficient, affordable, comfortable and safe.
