Secrets of uST Track Structure: Interview with Yuri Kashchuk

14 February 2026

In the new episode of "UST Inside," Yuri Kashchuk, Head of the Transport Overpasses Department, shared insights into the "heart" of string transport — its track structure. Having been with the company since 2014, Yuri has witnessed the journey from the first sketches in "metal" to the stage of global technology scaling.

At the Intersection of Two Industries

Designing uST overpasses is a unique hybrid of mechanical engineering and construction. It’s not just about the load-bearing capacity of the supports; the micron-level precision of the rail element is equally vital. To ensure perfect smoothness and passenger comfort, engineers design not only the road itself but also specialized rigging for its installation.

Unification and Standards

uST technology has moved past the experimental stage. Today, a special GOST (state standard) has been officially approved in the Republic of Belarus, regulating the terminology and standards for track structures. Five types of tracks are presented at the EcoTechnoPark — ranging from flexible urban lines to high-speed routes (up to 500 km/h) — allowing the company to offer customers the "golden mean" between cost and efficiency.

100-Year Durability

One of the key requirements set by General Designer Anatoli Unitsky is durability: overpasses are designed for a 100-year service life. To achieve this, specialists perform complex calculations for cyclic strength and fatigue life. Currently, the company is building a pool of ready-made modular solutions that will enable the rapid design of new lines for customers worldwide.
