The Final Stage of the Installation of a Semi-rigid Track with a Length of More than 2 km

31 May 2023

We share with all like-minded people the good news from the string transport test and certification centre in Sharjah, where the implementation of a transport overpass with a semi-rigid track structure continues. The line with a length of more than 2 km will allow organizing cargo and passenger transportation at speeds up to 150 km/h. Now, construction work has been completed and the final stage of installation of the track has begun. The complex is designed to organize the movement of heavy rolling stock weighing more than 30 tons. One of the peculiarities of the string-rail overpass is the large width of unsupported spans, which is more than 250 m, which will make it possible to overcome water barriers, mountain gorges, lay roads over transport, industrial, residential and energy infrastructure.

Now the workers are about to form the rolling head. Safety, comfort, speed of movement, as well as the noise level depend on this element. Work also begins on the installation of a non-stressed section – an addition to the overpass, which will allow the rolling stock to start from ground level. Suspending, commissioning and maintenance of the transport will also be done here.

After the installation is completed, commissioning of individual systems and the entire complex will start. Subsequently, a 25-seat U4-212-01, the latest development of the company, will be tested on the line. On the same route, a suspended container carrier with a capacity of up to 30.5 tons will be tested, which will allow transporting 20” and 40” sea containers.
