An Investor’s Story

An Investor’s Story

22 October 2021

The string technologies developer has recently received a letter from Jos van der Heijden, which reads that as a child he had an idea very similar to the UST transport solution. This interesting story has been published on the official page of the technology developer:

“Hello. My name is Jos van der Heijden, I live in the Netherlands and my age is 66. I just want to tell you that I’m glad finally somebody picked up an idea that I had when I was about 12 years old! At school there was a project about the safe playing of children in the streets. By then the motorized traffic increased and in some streets it was not safe for children to play anymore. I came up with the idea of making a kind of monorail that had in each block of streets a platform on which passengers could get on a small monorail carriage. The passenger could “order” a carriage by his computer and tell where he wanted to go to. After arriving of the carriage at the platform the carriage would bring him to the desired place without traffic jams ore other disturbances. He could read his paper (yes, in 1967 we had papers) or just look out the window, he would not have to do anything because the computer would transport him safely. I even had ideas of making a monorail between the existing lanes of the highway. I of course will follow your project because I think it is the solution for traffic jams, pollution etc. Keep up the good work!”

The publication ends with a comment by the developer of string technologies:

“As we can see, even at that time people were thinking about an alternative mode of transport. But there is a whole abyss between "inventing" and "implementing". Once the founder and General Designer of UST Anatoli Unitsky (pictured on the right) dreamed of the same thing. From an early age, he had a passion for science and inventions. It was this passion and the engineering solution underlying the creation of the string rail that helped him to pass along the difficult path from the idea to the implementation of the type of transport, which does not create problems, but solves them”.
