Hard Work: Interview About SkyWay Cargo Transport System

18 May 2018

The Chief designer of SkyWay cargo transport complex Dmitry Tikhonov tells in an interview about the news of the current stage of building the test section of the cargo transport system, as well as its design features and specifics.

SkyWay cargo transport complexes have a number of advantages compared to all other systems used today. The basic layout of the Skyway cargo overpass implies that the main loads from the superstructure and rolling stock are transferred to anchor supports, which allows making the intermediate support lightweight, low-costly and convenient for installation without loss of its strength. The support can be made of metal parts and reinforced concrete structures, both prefabricated and monolithic.

Anchor supports of the cargo complex can have a dual-purpose design: they can be combined with the supporting frame of various construction structures and buildings, for example, loading/unloading terminals, production workshops, factories, etc. These can also be depots, premises for technological equipment, U-turn track sections or other facilities that ensure the performance of SkyWay transport/infrastructure complex as a whole.

The operation of SkyWay cargo transport complex will not need powerful drive stations, as in conveyor systems and cable freight ways. They do not need connection to major power lines along the entire transport system. No need for annual replacement of expensive conveyor belts. Unlike railway electric and Diesel locomotives or a truck drive that can fail at any place of the route, a reliable and durable stationary engine of an external drive in the SkyWay transport complex, constantly operating in the regular mode, will be easy to repair.

These and other features make SkyWay cargo complexes one of the most efficient, affordable and profitable on the market.
