The Way to Europe – Through Certification

The Way to Europe – Through Certification

12 August 2020

The development of the innovative Unitsky String transport requires huge efforts at all stages of the project: at the conceptual level, at the stages of designing, production, testing and operation. In addition, an important milestone in this process is the confirmation of compliance with the requirements of certification authorities, because in addition to the need to meet the demands of rapidly changing technologies and competition, one of the main tasks facing the creators of SkyWay is to ensure the safety of the vehicle. For this purpose, specialists of the company-developer of the breakthrough transport technology of the future perform numerous calculations.

One of the important aspects of this issue is, for example, the fire safety of rolling stock. The analysis of interior trim materials and calculation of its fire load (the amount of energy released when finishing materials are burned) is carried out in order to assess the thermal impact on passengers and the volume of necessary fire extinguishing means in the event of a fire in the vehicle interior. Also, to ensure a safe and smooth transportation process, failure scenarios of system components are analyzed and described, then they are classified by hazard level; measures and possible response algorithms are worked out.

Today the Rolling Stock Administration at Unitsky String Technologies Co., primarily, specialists of its Bureau of Functional and System Analysis, are actively preparing the key base for passing the stages to certify Unibus U4-212 in the European Union.

Note: functional and system analysis is a scientific method of cognition based on mathematics, which is the search and establishment of logical connections between the elements of a chain. Its goal is a consistent approach to problem-solving, guided by a fully automated database of algorithms and system requirements.
