Will SkyWay Сome to Transcaucasian Main Railroad?

01 Junе 2017

President of the Joint-stock company “South-Ossetian railway” Zurab Zaseyev visited the project organization of SkyWay Technologies Co., production facility and SkyWay demonstration center. The parties discussed prospects for the use of all types of SkyWay transport in the region. Special attention in business discussion was paid to the possibility of implementing the long-standing idea to create a developed Transcaucasian main railroad that would be capable to meet the needs of the region in passenger and cargo turnover.

The project of the arterial railway through the Central ridge of the Caucasus has a nearly century-long history, which has not been embodied yet. It all started in the 30-ies of the last century after the completion of building the railway line Gori – Tskhinvali. The idea to develop the transport network in the region has emerged almost every five years in different variations. Construction of the new railway was periodically started in the 70s and 80s, but it was finally frozen by 1987. Exactly thirty years later there appeared the chance to revive this strategically important idea.

Today, when the speed of SkyWay transport is improved every day, it’s time to think about the postponed projects.
