SkyWay may connect airports of Ulyanovsk

16 January 2017

The Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Sergey Morozov announced during a conversation with journalists at the Gaidar forum in Moscow about the project of building a route of Yunitskiy’s string transport that will connect two airports in Ulyanovsk ― Eastern and Baratayevka ― with the city center, reported ulpressa.ru (in Russian).

“I met with colleagues from this project design team at the transport forum and we agreed that in the beginning of this year, most probably in February, after solving all the organizational issues we will meet and review this project. At least we shall go to Belarus and see the experimental pilot track they have already created in order to proceed with this project...” ― said Sergey Morozov.

As a reminder, it is not the first time Sergey Morozov is showing interest to Yunitskiy’s string transport; he repeatedly spoke about the prospects of this technology as a means of solving transport problems and a possible basis of Russia’s innovative development. It was he, who held a presentation of SkyWay technology to the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev at the meeting of the National Council Presidium in Ulyanovsk on November 24, 2009. Recently the Governor reviewed the current stage of the work of the SkyWay project design Company at the tenth anniversary exhibition “Transport of Russia” held from November 30 to December 2, 2016 in Moscow.

“It inspires great respect to you, to your persistence. At the same time, it gives confidence these technologies will finally come to the Russian Federation in the near future," said the official after visiting the exhibition stand that displayed functioning models of the SkyWay transport rolling stock in 1:10 scale and a video of operation trials with the lightweight urban transport system at EcoTechnoPark.

Note: the Gaidar forum provides a unique intellectual platform that brings together theoreticians and practitioners, world leading scientists and politicians, representatives of the top financial circles and global business elite. The forum is an important source of information on the main trends of socio-economic and political development in Russia, the state of its business environment and a barometer of investment climate. The forum serves as a regular platform for events of different level and scale: plenary sessions, expert roundtables and team discussions. The moderators of the forum are high-ranking politicians and influential experts: Russian Government officials, representatives of regional authorities, leading Russian and foreign economists. The basic objectives of the forum are to attract leading international scientists and practitioners to a joint discussion of economic and political problems, to maintain a continuous expert dialogue on key political and economic issues, to reflect major trends and key events of national and global economics and politics, to work out strategic proposals and recommendations for the development of the national economy, to secure Russia’s stable position on the intellectual economic world map and its status of the important center for global economic discussions at the highest level.
