ElectroTrans 2018: Near Future of Green Transport

25 May 2018

The 8th International exhibition of products and technologies for urban electric transport and metro “ElectroTrans 2018” (in Russian) was held on May 16-17 at Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre in Moscow. This year the exhibition “ElectroTrans” was held simultaneously with the 12th International exhibition of information technologies and electronics for passenger transport “Electronics-Transport 2018”.

SkyWay, Sky Way, SkyWay in Belarus, Yunitsky, string transport

During the seminar held within the framework of the exhibition, participants have discussed conditions for sustainable development of existing electric transportation systems and prospects to create prerequisites for the emergence of electric transport of new formation in the cities of Russia, – electric buses, high-speed LRT (Lightweight Rail Transport), new models of trams, minor types of electric mobility, as well as SkyWay transport. The participants of the seminar received information on changes in legislation, which are being prepared following the meeting of the Presidium of the State Council for the development of passenger transportation in the regions of the Russian Federation, held in Ulyanovsk last autumn, on measures to stimulate the renewal of rolling stock. The meeting focused on strengthening the legal and economic basis of passenger enterprises and public control measures. Within the framework of the State Council, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized (in Russian) the need to develop a strategic vision of how passenger transportation will develop in Russia in the future – in the medium and longer period, what trends, including global ones, are being evolved in this segment and will determine the development of public transport for the next 10-15 years. The President drew attention to the need to develop more eco-friendly and cost-effective technologies, the use of new energy sources and the spread of unmanned vehicles.

The issues on the development of new modes of transport are bursting forth today into the most relevant agenda of discussion. Not so long ago, we wrote that Russia and Belarus are preparing changes in the legislation aimed at the regulation of self-driving cars. SkyWay is also participating in these processes. The technology was showcased at the majority of transport exhibitions, and Company’s experts actively promote the idea of developing new types of transport.

The exhibition “ElectroTrans” is the first in the world and the only one in Russia to demonstrate the development of environmentally friendly public and private vehicles – from the city electric train, metro, tram, trolley-buses to the electric car, bicycles and electrically driven scooters. Seventy-six organizations took part in the exposition “ElectroTrans 2018” and its business program. Above 2,000 professionals from 850 enterprises and companies visited the exhibition.
